Opium Wars - Imperialism in China

The Opium War was the British and China from 1839 to 1842. British force China to allow free tread particularly in Opium. British decided they needed to balance their tread. That's mean that they must buy and sell to China, not just buy.So British got Opium form India and they decided to tread China Opium. Opium is a drug grown in India. Opium is used to make morphine and other drugs. Opium is used for relive pain, it help with sleeplessness. Sometimes Opium can be dangerous. The British felt the rulers in China had no right to keep opium from their people. The Opium War lasted from 1839 to 1842.On the Opium War Chinese also lost control of the important island of Hong Kong.

Film Lesson: "Mountains of the Moon"


Last two days we where watching move called "Mountains of the Moon". It is about two British explorers Richard Frances and Jhon Henning they went Africa to find Nile River Source.They were sent by the Royal Geographic society of London. When they were their they had known a lot of information. They had many problems, bad eating habbits, dirty water. They had to sleep with the light off if they didn't the bugs would crawl on you and also it would get in your ears that's what happen in the movie to Jhon Henning. Naile River is named after white British queen. Thes source of Nile River which is now named Victoria is the 3rd largest lake in the world. The advantage that the European explorers had was that they had guns back then it was the most dangerous weapon. And that help the European conquer the Africans because the only thing the Africans had spears and the Europeans had guns.

Imperialism Project

The reason why we did this project is to learn about how imperialism spread around the world.
I learned many things form this project. We have to found countries in the map and label them with the goods they had in their countries. I also learned things they tread such as gold and silver. Great Britain tread Opium to China. We have to drow a lot of sipping routes and colored with different colores becouse imperialism was spreading.

Karl Marx and Communism


Communism is a system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress tohward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people. Karl Marx lived during Industrial Revolution and he did not like what he sow. That's way Karl Marx ideas was known as Communism. He wanted that workers would share the wealth in a communiism society.Under Communism the government would own all property and everyone would be paid the same.
According to Marx, this would end the evils of Industrialization and Capitalism.
Russia eventually tried a system of Communism, but this system failed after about 70 years.

There still are Communist Countries Chin, Cuba, and North Korea.

Karl Marx and The Industrial Revolution


Industrial Revolution evented Many new machines that could make products much faster, and new sources of power helped to run these machines. People began to move from farms to cities in order to work at these new factory jobs. But the Industrial Revolution also allowed people to acquire more products as goods became cheaper and more plentiful. Karl Marx lived early during Industrial Revolution and he did not like the Industrial Revolution. Karl Marxs felt that Industrial Revolution allowed the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. He viewed the Industrial Revolution as an extension of feudalism, where factory workers were like peasants and factory owners like nobles. Marx wanted the workers to share everything. That's way Marx ideas worked for Communism.

Nationalism and the creation of Italy


Nationalism is the belief that one's greatest loyalty should not be to a king or an empire but a nation of people that shares a common culture and history.I am a naitionalisitic becouse i live in a country which is not ruled by another empire or another country. We all live whitin the same well defined borders.We have a history that defines our country.We have symbles that defines our nation.
Let me give you an example. The Austro- Hungarian Empair was a huge Empair in Europe. It was made up bunch of differrent people each with there on culture. Italy used to be part of Austro-Hungarian Emapir. But when other countries started to declare independence Italy was very influenced by them.When Italy wanted there independence they had a war of independence.They named there nation and break away from the Austro-Hungarian empire. Then they made a flag for their nation was not part of any other nation or empire. So this is how Italy used nationalism to gain independence.

Simon Bolivar

Latin American's heard about the American and French revolution. They sow how successful it was Simon Bolivar on his way home he decide to have a revolution for indipendense of the Spanish colonies.
Simon Bolivar was born in Caracas on July 24 of 1783. Simon Bolivar was a South American political, and military leader. He indipendence from Spain. Bolivar's life was dedited to the played a key role in Latin Amerrica's succesfull struggle for independense of the Spanish colonies, Colombia,Venezuela,Peru,Ecuador, and Bolivia. Bolivar Peninsula was named 1820, and it is named in honer of Simon Bolivar, liberator of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuadoe, Peru,and finelly Bolivia.

The rights Thomas Jefferson is talking about is that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government.


The goverent really doesnt have power. They gets from us the people that vote in representatives we can take them out and we can put them in thuse for giving us the ultimant power.

Copernicus and the trial of Galileo


There are but 2 main theories of the solar system. Geocentric, and heliocentric. Geocentric is the theory that the Earth is THE center of the solar system, and all the stars, moons, and planets rotate around it. Heliocentric is the theory that involves the sun at the center of the solar system, and all things rotate around it.The geocentric theory came first, and of course the heliocentric followed after. During the Scientific Revolution, the heliocentric theory was being accepted by many astronomers first presented by Copernicus then defended by others.

Scientific Revolution: The Scientific Method






The scientific method is a process for experimentation that is used to search observations and answer questions. Scientists use the scientific method to search for cause and effect relationships in nature. In other words, they design an experiment so that changes to one point cause something else to vary in a predictable way.
Even though we show the scientific method as a series of steps, keep in mind that new information or thinking might cause a scientist to back up and do again steps at any point during the process. A process like the scientific method that involves such backing up and repeating is called an iterative process.

Evolution Vs Creation


Evolution is about how humans were developed from monkeys or other animals. Alot of scientists will argue that us humans were not created from god. Supposedly we were just born or created from Earth. In some pictures on the internet or in books, would show a monkey developing into a man. This is what 50% of people belive, but some other people have a different opinion on how we came about on Earth.


Creation is about how humans were created and made from God. According to the Bible, God was the one who created us. In the Bible is says he created people in just 7 days. Scientists dont believe that we were created from God. Scientists belie we were developed from a monkey. People also say that because God made Adam & Eve, from there us humans were made.


Some people either agree on Evolution or Creation. There is nothing in between.My oppnion is that i belive Creation. That we were created from God, i dont think that humans were made from a monkey. It makes NO sense,I dont believe in the Evolution theory.
